Euro 2012 - European football championship
ABOUT
Pawel Pudlo composed an orchestral-choral piece called "Welcome to Poland and Ukraine" for the 14th European Football Championship for men's national football teams.
It was played during dance pre-match ceremonies at eight stadiums in Poland and Ukraine and the fan zones located in many cities in both countries. The ceremonies were watched live on stadiums by over 1,500,000 people from all over the world. The tournament was broadcast live by around 100 TV channels covering the whole world. 150,000,000 people were expected to watch the matches each day.
Events were played at eight venues, four in each host country. Five new stadiums were built for the tournament, and the hosts invested heavily in improving infrastructures such as railways and roads. The championship was one of the biggest events in the world. Pawel Pudlo was the only Polish author involved in the project in the territory of Poland and Ukraine and he received medal for his piece from the organizers.
